Classic White Wedding
Peter & Stefano’s wedding was so relaxed and easy – a pleasure to plan as these guys were so nice, a joy to arrange as it had such lovely classic flowers, and an interesting mix of classic elegance punctuated by pops of fun!
I can’t recall how Peter & Stefano had heard of us, it might have been through some of their good friends, but as soon as I chatted to them to find out more about their plans, I instantly knew I would really enjoy this wedding at Pembroke Lodge. They really wanted to have a very elegant wedding with some of Peter’s favourites – white hydrangeas and gladiola which reminded him of his childhood and his gran’s garden, and some of Stefan’s favourite flowers – sunflowers. The 2 looks don’t normally come together as they are quite different styles and looks so we decided to keep them separate but together. The flowers needed to be beautiful but not pretentious and make an impact without saying “look at me”, so that Peter & Stefano could have an amazing relaxed day with their nearest and dearest.
We used the cheery sunflowers mixed in with mint and eucalyptus to dress the garden space for the welcome drinks, with posies on the gate, sunflowers bouquets in rustic jugs on the drinks tables, and an uplifting floral urn by the pavilion. This turned out to be the perfect choice as the cheery sunflowers were literally like a signature flag for the hottest day of the year.
Inside at Pembroke Lodge, we dressed the stairs to the Russell Suite with lovely foliage and flower garlands, welcoming guests to the venue as they head up. The ceremony room was dressed with 2 elegant grand displays of hydrangeas and gladiola, flanking the ceremony area, and green foliage swags at the top of the bay window behind. The aisle was dressed with white chair posies of hydrangeas and gypsophila, and silver lanterns for candlelight. More little posies in little vintage silver bottles were lined up along the mantlepiece. The 2 low guest table centrepieces were also put to good use during the ceremony by using them on the ceremony table.
For the wedding breakfast, we added more matching tall displays on elegant fluted vases, and 2 of the guest tables were dressed with low silver rose bowls centrepieces bursting with white hydrangeas, roses, lisianthus and gypsohila. Finally, each napkin was styled with sprigs of foliage, and the top table napkins had little flower placeholders with dainty white lisianthus and gypsophila.
The trio of singers provided the entertainment during the wedding breakfast, Peter & Stefano provided much love and funny photos posing, and Peter & Stefano’s adorable sausage dog (with matching yellow sunflower themed harness) was the star guest. I wish I’d known about her before as have always wanted to create a cute canine circlet or a dog collar, a really missed opportunity here…
