Colourful Retro Wedding

Colourful retro summer wedding at Pembroke Lodge

For this brilliant wedding at Pembroke Lodge, I started off slightly overwhelmed by Vanessa and Neil’s love of bold bright wild flowers. But that feeling was very short lived.  As soon as Vanessa shared her vision for the day, all my concerns melted away, replaced by excitement to be working on a somewhat different and very exciting wedding theme.

For this unique wedding at Pembroke Lodge, Vanessa wore an amazing knee length 50s style vintage dress with a gorgeous yellow sash and carried this off beautifully with post war style make up and hair.  Her bridesmaid wore a deep purple pin-up dress echoing the shape of the bridal dress and the young flower girls wore ivory with bright satin sashes.  Their bouquets were colourful handtied wild bouquets, with a just picked style, with beautiful roses, French double tulips, veronica, lisianthus, yellow narcissi and lime green guelder roses.    Rainbow colour ribbons were added to the bridal bouquet. With my suggestion, Vanessa and Neil carried the array of bright colours through to the men’s ties, all in different colours, each with coordinated colour buttonholes.

We framed the ceremony area with 2 amazing rustic urn centrepieces, used two lower wild displays to start the aisle off, and lined little milk bottles with sprigs of wild flowers to decorate the ceremony table.  For the guest tables we used clusters of 5 matching milk bottles, like on the ceremony room, all different but all wild and unstructured.  For the the top table, we used posies of flowers in sweetie jars, for a laid back but colourful effect.

Vanessa and Neil’s concept for their wedding at Pembroke Lodge, from wedding flowers to general venue decor, was centered on an informal and bold look, full of joie de vivre and unabashedly happy and individual.  With bright just picked meadow style and English country garden flowers, colourful bunting along the windows and cake table (patiently made by Neil’s  crafty mum), colourful umbrellas and so on, the look came together seamlessly.   When I saw the pictures taken by Vanessa’s amazing photographer, Amy of Amy B Photography, it seemed that even the photos were taken in such a way to enhance the beautiful colours in a fun and truly individual way.

It all sings of happiness and exciting new begginings for the lovely couple. I am so grateful to Vanessa and Neil for entrusting me to bring to life their vision for the flowers, and I am delighted to see how well it fitted the rest of the accessories and little touches used for their wedding at Pembroke Lodge.  It suited the venue and the amazing couple to a tee.  I loved the uplifting wedding photography thanks to  Amy B Photography – thank you so much for sharing these with me!  It truly is like walking on sunshine.
