Green Botanical Wedding at Farnham Castle
I thoroughly loved working on Naomi & Greg’s green botanical wedding flowers at Farnham Castle in July! From start to finish it was so different and interesting and it had a really lovely Italian garden feeling to it which I adore.
We planned the wedding entirely with Naomi’s lovely mum, Ingrid, who looked delighted on the day when all the wedding styling had been done. I dare-say she must have breathed a big sigh of relief when Naomi looked thoroughly delighted with the end results of mum’s much hard work and planning. Even the horribly wet and overcast day didn’t take the edge of everyone’ moods, with smiles in abundance. Ingrid was a delight to work with, she trusted my expertise and took on board my comments throughout, listening to my suggestions about how to reuse floral displays, and just giving me lots of creative freedom. There is no better feeling in the world than to know that you are entrusted with someone else’ vision for the big day, and it is so0000 empowering…. However tempting it is for brides to know in advance the n-th details and have it all buttoned down to the smallest of things, it is so lovely for us suppliers to be given a bit of creative freedom, that I think on those weddings, we try even harder!!! And just think of the lovely surprise you will have when you walk into the room having left a few finer details in the hands of the professionals….
The bridal and bridesmaids bouquets were all beautifully scented and unstructured, with a mix of old fashioned David Austin scented garden roses, lisianthus and hydrangeas, with a healthy dose of olive and eucalyptus. The men wore interesting (and so cool!) mini-succulents buttonholes.
The organic Italian-esque theme carried out throughout the lovely wedding venue, Farnham Castle, which we adore working with! We styled the stairs with dense and lavish all-foliage garlands around the balustrade along the Fox’s steps and wound thin foliage garlands around the string of huge confetti wedding balloons. The hall where the drinks reception took place, was given a botanical touch with a massive all-foliage statement urn centrepiece and a dramatic very tall silver birch tree.
Moving on to the ceremony room, this was styled with a tonne of pretty things: eucalyptus and olive chair posies, lovely matching swags on the bride and groom chairs took care of the seating. The ceremony table was framed by another 2 tall silver birch trees and the table itself was dressed with a long flag and flowers runner. The windowsills and the assistant registrars desk were all dressed with an eclectic mix of white and grey retro bottles and vases with flowers and foliage bouquets and olive branch hearts in bottles.
And finally, the Great Hall guest tables were in the main dressed for the wedding breakfast with tall and dramatic -foliage-heavy displays with accent hydrangeas and scented stocks. A few of the tables were dressed with some of the mixed displays coming from the windowsills.
The stunning photography including some beautiful black & white shots, is thanks to Martin Beddall Photography. Click here to see more of his fabulous reportage style wedding photography at this lovely Farnham Castle summer wedding.
