Autumn riches at Pembroke Lodge

Rich autumn colour at Kenzie & Will’s wedding

We really really loved the rich autumn colour scheme for this autumn wedding at Pembroke lodge, so it was really hard to not get carried away with the mix of flowers, and no surprise, we really went to town with it.

Kenzie & Will’s wedding was in the Beautiful Pembroke Lodge Belvedere Suite, in the middle of Richmond Park where the couple love to go for walks.  A real highlight for us was knowing that David from MarriedToMyCamera was going to be doing the photography, as it is always a real visual treat to get to see his work, it’s always outstanding, he just really gets his couples in a way that is simply magical!

Kenzie wanted to really make an impact, and the colour scheme was really perfect for that as those rich autumnal shades packed so much punch.  But she wanted to stay focused on just the things that mattered and not end up wasting flower power where no one would notice.  So the flowers for the venue were made to work hard through clever repurposing, maxing out the impact from each floral display.  The same floral displays were used first to dress the ceremony space, and then were repurposed as table centrepieces.  To echo the warm autumnal tones of the flowers, Kenzie opted for antique gold candelabra and rose bowls centrepieces which looked amazing with the colour scheme and added an extra touch of warmth at this cold time of year.

For Kenzie’s bouquet we used a mix of roses, cymbidium orchids, chrysanthemums, leucadendron, rose hips and hypericum, and mixed in olive and grevillea and other textural foliage, and the bridesmaids carried matching ones but slightly smaller.  We made sure to use some deeper reds to echo Kenzie beautiful deep red velvet shoes.  Will’s buttonhole was an autumnal deep red rose with rosehip berries to match.  The 4 candelabra were first used to flank the ceremony area and the back end of the aisle, while the low centrepieces were first used to dress the ceremony table.  Finally, the long top table was simply dressed with the bridal and bridesmaids bouquets, which looked so striking.   The finishing touches were provided by rich deep teal – emerald green runners on all the tables, to echo the bridesmaids dress colours.  These were so effective at reducing the amount of white space on the tables, and added such a beautiful rich feel to the tables, everyone should absolutely do this –  get some table runners… ASAP!

Finally the yummy looking semi-naked cake was dressed with berries, oak leaves and dried hydrangea florets, and was really in keeping with the laid back style of the new Mr & Mrs Horn Gillham!
