Beautiful spring wedding ⋅ Hampton Court House flowers in blossom

For this spring wedding Hampton Court House appeared to be blooming at every turn.  The theme was cherry blossom, perfect at this time of year but jazzed up and punchier, with lots of colour added by extra flowers, to reflect the wedding party’s outfits colour scheme (inky navy for the bridesmaids and purpley fuchsia for the men’s cravats) and Katherine and Gareth’s love of vibrant colours.

The bouquets were a gorgeous vibrant mix of roses, anemones and tulips, with Katherine’s bridal bouquet being the exception, with ivory and pale blush scented O’Hara roses, akin to the paeonies Katherine liked so much but which were out of season. The men all wore deep pinky-purple rose buttonholes of Purple Power roses. For the ceremony room I created two beautiful vintage stone urns with Bohemian style flowers including deep purple delphinium, cherry blossom, lots of roses and blousy hydrangeas, and we echoed the theme by lining the entrance steps with purple potted hydrangeas in pretty lace edged pots. The wedding aisle was an avenue of faux cherry blossom displays in tall elegant silver vases, which looked amazing in the wedding photos – my one concession to using silk flowers since they look so realistic and they are great for weddings where the real thing may not be quite in full bloom. They have much better staying power and look every bit as good.

For the Hampton Court wedding reception in the great hall, the cherry blossom displays were used as the main guest table centrepiece, but to add more colour on the tables, we surrounded each of them by a trio of colourful vases of spring flowers – again using roses, anemones, lisianthus and tulips in beautiful jewel vibrant shades. We picked up the accent colour of the outfits with a double ribbon band of fuchsia and purple around each low vase, a really lovely splash of colour detailing to bring the look together.  Some of the lovely photos (you will know which since I am not a great photographer) is thanks to cake Emily White Photography.  She captured this beautiful unusual wedding really well.  There is a edgy feel to each photo, even when the subject is the usual group/family shot, it is hard to define but seems to suit Katherine and Gareth really perfectly.

The simple but stunning wedding cake, covered in dainty cherry blossom flowers of  course was supplied by the amazingly yummy cake bakers Alexander Taylor Cakes.  I also loved Katherine and Gareth’s unusual booky table names, covers of classic literature titles, made of books with pages folded into cool shapes, and their matching library bookshelf style table seating plan. Really perfect for literature fans.
