Great Fosters florist – top pick
Our collaboration with Louise was an international affair, with our communication primarily conducted through emails and Zoom meetings due to Louise’s location in Hong Kong. Despite the physical distance, coordinating the floral arrangements for her wedding at both the local church and Great Fosters venue was a seamless and enjoyable process, with many exchanges of ideas and photos paving the way.
Louise chose a stunning bridal bouquet featuring ivory and blush roses and peonies, accentuated by beautifully scented O’Hara garden roses. The adult bridesmaids carried matching bouquets of just ivory and blush roses, and the little flower girl wore an Alice band styled with a corsage of blush lisianthus. For the gentlemen, classic ivory rose buttonholes were chosen, with a touch of blush spray roses detail added for Mark’s boutonniere.
We began the day by adorning the picturesque St Mary’s Church in Thorpe with exquisite floral displays, including charming arrangements at the lych gate and elegant pedestal style displays within the church. As it’s such an ancient church (one of the oldest in the area) and the space at the front is quite limited, the pedestals were placed within the deep old alcoves behind the ceremony area, creating a lovely framing of Louise & Mark during the ceremony.
At the Great Fosters summer wedding reception, guests were welcomed by stunning urn displays brimming with ivory and blush pink blooms in the Orangery., which was set up with informal drinks poseur tables for guests to gather around. The Painted Hall bar area exuded a romantic ambiance, with candlelit bubble vases and a delightful urn display adding to the overall charm.
The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the breathtaking floral arrangements in the Tithe Barn. The central tables featured captivating silver French-style candelabras adorned with a dreamy bloomy mix of roses, hydrangeas, blush dahlias, and peonies. Additionally, the tables under the eaves were decorated with matching silver Revere rose bowls, creating an opulent and lavish effect.
For the top table, Louise opted for a striking bare silver candelabra surrounded by bouquets, posies, and flickering candlelight in silver stemmed hurricane vases, creating a truly romantic and unforgettable setting. The bridesmaids’ bouquets were also repurposed as part of the top table styling, adding a personal touch to the overall decor.
In conclusion, creating the floral arrangements for Louise’s summer wedding at Great Fosters was an absolute delight and a memorable experience, producing an unforgettable ambiance for her special day.
If you are having your wedding reception at Great Fosters and want to hold you religious ceremony far from your own local church somewhere near Great Fosters, St. Mary’s church in Thorpe, is the prettiest and most inclusive church around by a long shot. It is impossible to say exactly when St. Mary’s Church was built but we do know that Thorpe, or ‘Torp’, meaning village with a church or chapel in Old English is listed in the Domesday Book of 1086 and that some extensive rebuild was done around the 1300’s. The church is steeped in history and the approach to the church is as pretty as the church itself, with a quintessentially English village setting to it, at the heart of the conservation area within the village. It really doesn’t come any cuter than this!
