Beautiful vintage pastels & lace wedding

Vintage pastels flowers & lace inspired wedding at Northbrook Park

Laura and Ross’ wedding at Northbrook Park was a real joy to work on earlier on, at the start of the summer. Laura and Ross had chosen a soft and dreamy colour scheme for the bridesmaids dresses – a mix of pale lemon, blush, palest pink and a beautiful soft sage green, which was always going to be a great and interesting start. Coupled with a love of lace, pearls and all things a little bit shabby chic – vintage, a theme very quickly emerged during our consultation, and as they say, the rest was history in the making. A great deal of attention was obviously spend since our initial meeting, on the selection of pretty accents to finish off this look, and this paid off in spades for this lovely couple. The result on the day was really pretty, the pastel colours blending in beautifully with the fabric of the venue, and judging by the comments on the day, it was totally true to their dreams and hopes for how it would all look.

Laura held a stunning and opulent bouquet of roses, paeonies and spray roses in pastel shades of ivory, cream and pale blush, which looked amazing against Laura-Jane’s full skirted lace bridal gown. Her four bridesmaids carried bouquets of vintage blush or vintage blue hydrangeas, again studded with roses in a blend of soft pastel fondant shades, with the colours mixed such that each had more lean towards whichever colour dress they were wearing.

For the wedding ceremony in the the beautifully light and airy Vine room at Northbrook Park, the flowers carried on the theme of soft pastel shades in ivory, creams, pale peach and blush, touches of vintage pinks and palest of blues.  Northbrook Park ceremonies always feel quite cosy and intimate even when the room is fairly full-up, so Laura Jane and Ross wanted to keep the effect light and not over the top but at the same time have a sense that all aspects of the room were dressed.  We achieved this by focusing on the area by the ceremony table – flanking the table with 2 opulent tall centrepieces on pedestals, and reflecting this symmetrical layout on the ceremony table also, but bridging the gap with a beautiful long flower runner along the long mantelpiece.  Two more of the table centrepieces were used to frame the start of the wedding aisle, and 5 more were lined up and put to good use to dress the curved bar at the entrance to the Vine room, connected by rose petals scatter and a lots of pearls strands draped around them. The final touch for these beautiful Northbrook Park ceremony room flowers, were the pastel rose petals scatter down the aisle which nicely brought a subtle amount of colour down the wedding aisle.

Following the ceremony and photos, guests made their way through the beautiful courtyard gardens to the wedding reception in the garden room.  Northbrook Park weddings have the amazing wow factor that the stunning courtyard gardens bring along, and in my mind whenever I return, it is like entering an enchanted  Alice in Wonderland garden.  The resident peacocks which kept me company while setting up this area, fit right in.   Laura and Ross wanted even more magic brought to the setting, so we lined the walkway from the gate to the garden room entrance with lots of strands of hanging tea lights in glass bauble votives.  I imagine that at night when the dusk settled, the delicate up-down candlelights will have had a lovely effect for guests enjoying the warm summer evening outside on the patio.  For the wedding breakfast in the Garden Room, the tables were dressed with beautiful lace wrapped vases bursting with pastel blooms of hint of blue and hint of blush hydrangeas studded with softly coloured roses in pretty fondant shades.  The colours were nicely echoed in Laura’s beautiful table name frames with floral background, and vintage table settings with coloured glasses, which all looked so pretty together. The top table, draped in the most amazing gold sequin table cloth, was styled with the long flower runner that was used beforehand on the mantelpiece in the Vine room, and was flanked by the two tall focal centrepieces from the wedding ceremony.
