Proteas & roses at South African & English wedding at Farnham Castle
I just loved seeing the photos of these beautiful wedding flowers designs at Farnham Castle. When Sandy & Jamie met with me to talk about their plans for a “South African meets English” flowers scheme, it was the perfect opportunity to combine stunning South African proteas wish classic English roses. The effect was simply stunning!
Sandy’s bridesmaids wore deep raspberry red dresses so we opted for a mix of burgundy and deep red roses, spray roses and proteas, vintage pink Mentha and Upper Secret roses, toning down to palest blush Sweet Avalanche roses and spray roses, mini proteas, and feathery blush astilbe. Sandy carried a wilder style handtied bouquet with a slight tear drop extension , and the bridesmaids and flower girls carried matching smaller bouquets and posies.
For the wedding ceremony in the intimate and cosy Norman chapel at Farnham Castle, the ceremony area was framed by two tall flower displays on silver candelabra stands, and long garlands along the side balustrades. As the chapel is quite cosy, this was just perfect for the space.
The handrails for the beautiful stone steps leading down to the lawn garden were dressed with dainty foliage garland accented with blush and vintage pink roses and proteas.
Back in the great hall, the guest tables were all dressed with tall candelabra centrepieces with ivory and blush hydrangeas, ivory, vintage pink and blush pink roses, accent deep red spray roses and stocks, and beautiful nicoli and populus eucalyptus. The runner halves used in the chapel were put together and reused along the grand fireplace mantlepiece, and the long top table was styled with two beautiful rose bowls centrepieces, connected by the bridesmaids bouquets placed in silver vases.
I am so grateful to Vicky from Senior Mac Photography for sharing with us these beautiful wedding photos – a day full of sun and laughter captured to perfection!
