Highclere Castle wedding flowers – Winter Wonderland

Classic winter wonderland Highclere Castle wedding flowers

This weekend we return again to Highclere Castle where we are recommended florists. The beauty of the venue is just breathtaking, as I experienced again as we drove up the hill and on our approach to the castle.  The sun was shinning and the castle was bathed in a glorious crisp winter morning sun.  Even though I am not a particularly great photographer, I managed to get an amazing shot of the castle, that just shows what a stunning wedding venue this is.  Imagine all your guests seeing this as they come to your wedding. Absolutely priceless!

Today we were here for the wedding flowers of Tempe & Nick, who had a Winter Wonderland wedding theme with gorgous snow white Amarylis, roses and mistletoe as the main flowers.

Tempe’s bridal bouquet, to complement her vintage lace bridal gown from designer bridal dressmaker Riva Westenius, used simply Avalanche roses and ivory Snowflake spray roses. The texture perfectly mirrored the lacey gown and looked really gorgeous.  The bridesmaids all carried similar bouquets with just a splash of extra ivory lisianthus and winter green eucalyptus, to soften the contrast against their dark midnight blue dresses.  The men’s boutonierres were all classic ivory roses with spray roses and berries.   The castle was bedecked with Christmas decorations and looked really festive – the Christmas tree, as you would have seen in the fantastic Downton Abbey, was over one storey high, reaching up to the first floor ballustrade, and the stairs were decked out with opulent luxurious fir swags with pretty lights.   Since the tree was so imposing and nothing else woudl really stand a chance to compete with it, for the ceremony we stayed fairly modest and used pretty wintry candelabra displays to frame the dramatic fireplace behind the registrar’s table.

For the wedding reception in the library, we used tall dramatic silver candelabras with icy crystals trailing down from the candelabra arms, and for some of the tables we arranged opulent low displays in silver Revere bowls, to perfectly match the silver candelabras.

It was nice to also run into another lovely couple who is getting married at Highclere next year and who took the opportunity to come and visit the venue on the day, to see our lovely flowers and brainstorm initial ideas.  As we are based in Staines-Upon-Thames, South West London and they are based in central London, it is a lot easier for them to meet us than a Newbury florist as it is a far easier journey to come and see us.  So if like them, you are getting married at Highclere but are not from around the Highclere area, you may find it more convenient to schedule an appointment for your wedding flowers with us in Staines.  We have a huge wedding flowers portfolio of pictures so you will be spoilt for choice whatever colour you are thinking of for your wedding theme. And, of course, we can advise you well as to what looks in keeping with Highclere, since we are very familiar with the venue.  For more wedding ideas please visit our Highclere Castle venue page where you will see many more featured Highclere Castle weddings to get you inspired.
