Proteas wedding – flowers at Botleys Mansion

For their spring wedding at Botleys Mansion, Alison and Dylan set their heart on a fusion of striking South African proteas and English roses and hydrangeas. As Ali always wanted to include aspects of South Africa within the wedding it was non-negotiable that the king proteas (the national flower of South Africa) featured heavily throughout. The challenge was to incorporate them into the designs in a way which didn’t totally dominate.  Style wise they also had to fit in with the English stately home setting that Botleys offers as a venue. The end designs were really lovely and unusual, the hardy structural proteas complementing the feminine English blooms rather nicely.

Alison chose a tear-drop bouquet of king proteas, roses, spray roses and long trailing Singapore orchids, and the 5 bridesmaids carried posies of a large king protea surrounded by daintier white proteas, spray roses and eucalyptus.

The beautiful Green ceremony room at Botleys Mansion was dressed with single proteas and eucalyptus chair ends posies, pretty rose petals and candle-lit hurricane vases down the aisle.  Dressing the ceremony table,  there were two very opulent rose bowls displays bursting with roses, proteas, hydrangeas and orchids.   Framing the ceremony area, Alison wanted to make the most of her flowers budget and simply used two of her tall guest table centrepieces, placed on our lovely white plinths to add a nice background to the ceremony.   The low displays were later reused on the long top table, alongside the bridesmaids posies, placed in matching silver vases, again, cleverly putting flowers to double usage through the day.  The rest of the guest tables were dressed with tall elegant silver vase centrepieces of ivory and blush hydrangeas, roses and eucalyptus.  To link in with the proteas theme, each centrepiece was surrounded by 3 silver vintage bottles with large and bud proteas in them.

I hope you’ve enjoyed these lovely snapshots of Alison and Dylans 2-worlds-in-one wedding, with fusion wedding flowers – The beautiful photography shared here is thanks to Anthony Hurren Photography.
