Having done some lovely weddings at Royal Holloway in the past, I was delighted to be asked to become their recommended weddings and events florist for weddings and functions in the Picture Gallery or the Founders Dining Hall. So my first time back at the college since then is to dress the venue with some gorgeous wedding flower displays for the open day on the 25th March. I find the venue breathtakingly beautiful and I am quite excited!
I imagine that being a wedding photographer at the college is an equal dream and visual overload…Where do you start in order to do it justice? From the unique chapel which is worthy of the grandest of weddings ever, to the Picture Gallery and the Founders Dining Hall, both lovely and spacious rooms, with amazingly tall ceilings and lots of features, there is so much on offer! And then of course, there are the courtyards within, lined with long expanses of old style glass catching the light in the most amazing way… Forget modern wedding venues with double-glazing and cast stone water fountains, this has so much more… When the venue is quiet at weekends and you can clearly see the many interesting features that the college has to offer, the transformation is amazing. There is such a serene beauty to these amazing buildings and the stunning courtyards, that it can simply stop you in your tracks. I did say I was just a tiny bit excited, didn’t I?
Anyway, here are some lovely pictures from both the Picture Gallery and the Founders Dining Hall, to give you a flavour and ideas for how amazing they can look when dressed with lovely wedding flowers. Both rooms have backgrounds which offer neutral backdrops to more or less any colour scheme for the flowers, so we opted for quite a few of the popular colour schemes in vogue at the moment…
