Joella & Ross’s rustic wedding flowers at Great Fosters
Joella & Ross’ wedding at Great Fosters, on the cusp of winter and spring was a lovely celebration with flowers which really reflected the turning seasons. The bridesmaids wore elegant teally green dresses and wintry feathery elegant shrugs to keep the chill off so the vibe still had a slightly wintry frosty vibe, which was reflected in the choice of frosty looking brunnia berries I the bouquets. But the spring anemones and pussy willow buds , silvery senecio and fresh eucalyptus added a spring vibe to signal the arrival of spring.
Joella and her bridesmaids carried beautiful bouquets of roses, ranunculus, black centred anemones, hint of blue hydrangeas, and blue thistles to echo the Scottish kilts, with silvery senecio foliage, silvery brunnia berries and pussy willow sprigs. Ross and his groomsmen wore rustic buttonholes of thistles and pussy willow.
The wedding ceremony was held at Great Fosters in Surrey, where we are so lucky to be recommended suppliers. We absolutely love the beautifully light and airy Orangery where the ceremony was held. The light quality in there is always amazing and at this time of year the spring light streaming through the three beautiful arched windows is so stunning, soft but not too bright. We kept the decor for the ceremony room simple but striking, with 2 tall rustic pillars with silver tones and hydrangeas, fashioning the effect of a light arch connection between them to echo the shape of the focal arched window behind them. The aisle was punctuated with modern elegant pillars with statuesque vases of tall rustic twisty willow branches and cherry blossom branches coming out from a boho-style mix of pale blue hydrangeas, roses, eucalyptus and thistles. Storm vases with warm candlelight and rose petals scatter down the aisle completed the look in the Orangery and nicely complemented the elegant lime wash chiavari chairs from Academy Hire.
For the guest tables in the cosy but large Tudor Tithe Barn, we reused the tall vases from the aisle to add height and impact in the grand centre of the old barn, and added a few extra matching low centrepieces with the same design but on low vases, to achieve a better proportion under the low ceilinged eaves of the barn. The rustic willow twigs really echoed the colour of the posts and naturally enhanced the beauty of the barn. Twinkly fairy light strings around and in between the pillars and along the Minstrel Gallery, thanks to Party Lights, finished the decor and added a warm and inviting mood in the Tithe Barn as the guests took their seats for this elegant wedding breakfast.
