Bold summer wedding flowers
This summer wedding at Farnham Castle couldn’t possibly pack in more vibrancy and colour! Yuen & Lewis came to me with a brief for a bright and bold, different colour scheme, to include deep purple and blues. They wanted to create a big impact wedding that stood out from the current trend for nudes and vintage and pale colours. Most of all, they wanted their wedding to feel fun and relaxed and embrace the summer colours outside! With a little gentle nudge to not dilute the effect with ivory, we arrived at a bold blend of deep blues and purples, deep fuchsia pink and orange, to put their guests in a summer party mood. The result was bold and stunning!
For this wedding at Farnham Castle, we opted for a country garden mix of flowers in keeping with the venue. We used purple, burgundy and blue hydrangeas, a bold mix of roses and gerberas in fuchsia and orange, deep purple and ruby scented stocks and lisianthus. As the weather was beautiful and there would be a lot of traffic via the stairs to the garden, for this summer wedding at Farnham Castle, we welcomed guests to the castle by dressing the stairs leading to the castle, visible throughout the champagne reception in the gardens – the lower set of stairs were dressed with foliage garlands and 2 lollipop bay trees with fairy lights framed the staircase. The upper part of the handrail was styled with organza and clusters of flowers, to link the outdoors with the indoors.
For this wedding at Farnham Castle, all the flowers that were needed for the wedding breakfast itself were cleverly put to work first during the wedding ceremony – we used the tall centrepieces to line the aisle (placed on our tall plinths available to hire), and dressed the windowsills, the registrars table and the assistant registrars table with the low table centrepieces. In the Marble Hall we just dressed the seating plan with some flowers…
For all the table centrepieces we balanced the bold flowers with elegant silver props – tall elegant silver vases for the tall centrepieces much needed in such a tall room, and low silver Revere rose bowls for the low table centrepieces. On the top table, we used the 5 bridesmaids bouquets all lined up in matching silver vases, keeping everything fresh for the next day, and putting them to good use again. In addition, two dramatic urn centrepieces that were used as a backdrop to the ceremony, were later on reused to frame the impressive grand fireplace behind the top table.
