Amazing wedding at Farnham Castle with stunning wedding flowers
When Sanchia asked me to arrange the flowers for her wedding at Farnham Castle, I was really thrilled on two counts. I’d previously arranged Sanchia’s sisters wedding flowers so it lovely to get the vote of confidence second time around. And it also gave me a chance to dress a beautiful new venue with our lovely creations. This was our first wedding at Farnham Castle and it was such a great way to start. The venue were soooo impressed with our work, we are delighted to find that they have added us to their list of recommended suppliers. Hooray!
The challenge bit was the thing in the middle, how to make Sanchia’s dream come true. Her brief for her flowers was ‘enchanted’, ‘magical’, ‘different’, ‘regal’… Then, for good measure, she threw in some beautiful and unusual props that she had already sourced and was very keen to use in the designs – some iconic silver crowns and a la Cinderalla silver pumpkins. Just to make things more interesting still! Terrifyingly exciting, I felt like Alice in Wonderland about to fall down the rabbit hole, and possibly find myself in front of the Queen of Hearts.
Sanchia’s amazing bridal bouquet was very unusual and my inspiration was the waterfall lace and voile dress studded with pretty flowers, so I replicated that on the bouquet, with a shower of bear grass and spray roses, cascading down from a dome of dreamy roses and anemones. For the bridesmaids we created a matching one without the trailing flowers, and for the flower girl, we created a pretty circlet of pastel spray roses and dainty lisianthus. The men wore matching buttonholes of Memory Lane roses.
For the venue flowers for this beautiful wedding at Farnham Castle, Sanchia and Sharif wanted to create a real wow factor as you walked into the Lantern Hall for the ceremony. Sanchia was also keen to detract attention from the rooms’s asymetrical aisle, and of course the brief was to create a magical and echanted wedding aisle like no other. So we lined the aisle with tall beautiful centrepieces of spring cherry blossom and hydrangeas, raised up on plinths so that you walk under them. The 5 windows on the left were all dressed with beautiful floral displays built around Sanchia’s unusual silver crowns. Framing the ‘all eyes on the couple’ area at the front, near where Sanchia and Sharif stood for the ceremony, we created two amazing focal displays in rustic urns, which were later on moved to frame the imposing fireplace behind the top table in the Great Hall.
All of these centrepieces later became table centrepieces in the Great Hall, so absolutely everything was used twice – first in Lantern Hall for the ceremony and then in the Great Hall for the wedding breakfast.
Finally I should give mention to the beautiful cake by Maki’s Cakes – the floating birds looked so delicate and pretty… And a huge huge thank you to Damien Bailey’s beautiful wedding photography which so perfectly captured the feel of this stunning wedding at Farnham Castle. Some of the shots above are mine and some are thanks to Damien – it should be easy to see which since mine are nowehere near as lovely!
