Classic White & Sky Blue in the Belvedere

For this beautiful Pembroke Lodge wedding in the Belvedere Suite, Aly was keen to keep everything light and classic, in neutral and never dating ivory as the main colour.  The bridesmaids dresses were a beautiful pale sky blue so we added light dashes of pale blue here and there to just link in with this, but kept the effect delicate and measured, to give a lovely and bright summery feel.

Aly carried a hand-tied bouquet of Avalanche roses, white lisianthus and wispy white astilbe, and we added a very light scattering of late spring blue mascara, which are part of the bluebells family.  This gave a really subtle added blue so for extra contrast against the ivory dress we added sage green eucalyptus sprigs to the bridal bouquet.  For the  bridesmaids, we upped the amount of pale blue by using light blue two tone hydrangeas which linked their bouquets to the dress colour a bit more, and looked wonderful against their dresses.  The groom’s and the other mens buttonholes, matched the bouquets, with an Avalanche rose and light blue muscari detail, a very smart choice against the navy suits.

The wedding ceremony took place in the light and airy Belvedere Suite at Pembroke Lodge and was lightly but elegantly dressed. We kept the focus on the areas which count most, so we framed the ceremony table with 2 blousy tall vases of flowers, to which we added trailing foliage to add a more relaxed vibe.  The ceremony table was dressed simply with two tone hydrangea blooms, cut short in tiny vases, and connected by some nice candlelight.  Aly brought in lime wash charivari chairs, which we dressed with pretty roses and blue muscari posies of flowers with dainty eucalyptus sprigs.  If your budget can stretch to the extra expense of Chiavari chairs, I would  strongly recommend this as it instantly elevates the decor and suits the light room really well.

Behind the ceremony area we busily set about dressing the guest tables for the wedding breakfast so that after the ceremony, when the room got turned around for the breakfast, the decor was already in place.

Following drinks on the Belvedere terrace, bathed in glorious sunshine, and after the photography around the venue, the wedding guests made their way inside for the wedding breakfast.  The long top table was dressed with a line up of the gorgeously bloomy bridesmaids bouquets, while the remaining round guest tables were styled with blush bouquets of roses, blue and white hydrangeas, lisianthus, astilbe and mixed eucalyptus.  Last but not least, the windows along the length of the room were dressed with delicate foliage swags with small clusters of flowers at each end, adding a lovely touch throughout the whole wedding day.   Before we concluded our set up, we decorated the semi-naked cake made by the brides’ mum, with a cake toper and delicate cake flower clusters on the lower tiers.
